STOCKHOLM – June 29, 2012: iZettle, whose free app lets anyone take credit card payments with their iPhone or iPad, today announced that starting Monday July 2, its mini chip-card reader for individuals and small businesses will be available to purchase on the iZettle website in Sweden.
The iZettle chip-card reader will be available on the Swedish iZettle website for SEK 199 excluding VAT, and will come with a SEK 200 voucher toward iZettle transaction fees. The chip-card reader is also available to purchase in Telia shops across Sweden.
“iZettle has made accepting credit and debit cards super easy and available to anyone – and in the last 10 months we’ve given out more than 50,000 readers to small businesses and individuals free of charge,” said Jacob de Geer, CEO and co-founder of iZettle. “Security is a top priority here at iZettle. Our mini chip-card readers are no exception. We’ve designed them to ensure users’ card details always remain safe and free from harm but this comes with a price albeit a small one. With the voucher, we’re offering what we think is a pretty painless way to cover those costs.”
The social payments company’s first service takes just minutes to set up and instantly turns an iPhone or iPad into a mobile credit card terminal. For businesses that need to process multi-product sales in a single transaction, iZettle’s iPad app lets users create custom menus of products, much like expensive touch-screen point of sale (POS) systems used in retail establishments around the world. But, unlike traditional point of sale card terminals, iZettle comes at a fraction of the price and has no monthly fees or contracts.
iZettle has been an instant hit among small business owners and individual service providers, increasing the number of point of sale (POS) card terminals in the Nordics by 10 percent since the company began operation in Sweden last August and expanded to Denmark, Finland, Norway and the United Kingdom earlier this year.
